No extension for Jamb registration says Jamb Registrar .

1.9 million candidates have so far registered for the ongoing 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,UTME and the Direct Entry,DE preparatory to seeking admission into various tertiary institutions in the country. The development came as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB,said it would not extend the February 17,2020 deadline for the registrations. The board which described the huge rate of registration within five weeks of commencement of sale of the forms as unprecedented in the history of UTME and DE registrations in the country, insisted that its deadline was sacrosanct.

JAMB’s Head of Media and Information,Dr Fabian Benjamin, speaking to Vanguard on the telephone, Sunday, said contrary to the fear that many prospective candidates would be left out if there was no extension, almost all the candidates had registered.Asked whether there would be extension of deadline given that many candidates were yet to register, Dr Benjamin said:” I can tell you that over 1.9 million candidates have so far registered as at last week. This is unprecedented in our history.”

He spoke further:” I disagree with you that many people were yet to register. If you had gone to most centres last Friday, you would see that they were empty without candidates coming for registration. What does that mean? It means people have registered.”

The number of candidate that have registered within these five weeks like I said,is unprecedented and given that most registration centres are empty now,we believe intending candidates have registered.”

Expect Jamb mock result today, says JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has asked candidates who sat for her mock examination to expect the result on Wednesday, 19/02/2020.

The mock examination for candidates preparing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination was written nationwide on Tuesday.

About 350,000 candidates out of the over 2.1 million that registered for the 2020 UTME sat for the examination nationwide in 64 computer based test centres (CBT).

Pockets of biometric issues were recorded in some of the centres monitored by our reporter in Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

However, there were no major technical hitches during the conduct of the examination.

JAMB’S Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin,  in an interview on Tuesday, said that the board was looking at few cases recorded during the examination.

He said: “The results of the Mock Examination will be ready within 24 hours.

“There was nothing unusual about the mock examination, which is an indication that candidates are beginning to fall in line with the Computer-Based Test procedures.

Mock enabled us to test our facilities and on Wednesday, we will meet and consider all the reports coming in on the functionality of our systems.

“From the CBT centres that participated nationwide, there were one or two cases of biometric issues that we are looking at. We are examining how and why they actually occurred.”

The JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, had said on Monday that the mock exam was to test-run the preparedness of the board for the 2020 UTME.

Oloyede insisted that there would be no extension for UTME registration which came to a close on Monday.

The registrar added that about 2,000 direct entry candidates also registered for the 2020 admission process.

Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases (PID)

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the female reproductive organs. It usually occurs when sexually transmitted bacteria spread from your vagina to your uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries.

inflammatory disease often causes no signs or symptoms. As a result, you might not realize you have the condition and get needed treatment. The condition might be detected later if you have trouble getting pregnant or if you develop chronic pelvic pain.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease might include:

  • Pain in your lower abdomen and pelvis
  • Heavy vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding, especially during or after intercourse, or between menstrual cycles
  • Pain or bleeding during intercourse
  • Fever, sometimes with chills
  • Painful or difficult urination

PID might cause only mild signs and symptoms or none at all. When severe, PID might cause fever, chills, severe lower abdominal or pelvic pain — especially during a pelvic exam — and bowel discomfort.

When to see a doctor

See your doctor or seek urgent medical care if you experience:

  • Severe pain low in your abdomen
  • Nausea and vomiting, with an inability to keep anything down
  • Fever, with a temperature higher than 101 F (38.3 C)
  • Foul vaginal discharge

If your signs and symptoms persist but aren’t severe, see your doctor as soon as possible. Vaginal discharge with an odor, painful urination or bleeding between menstrual cycles can be associated with a sexually transmitted infection (STI). If these signs and symptoms occur, stop having sex and see your doctor soon. Prompt treatment of an STI can help prevent PID.

Causes

Many types of bacteria can cause PID, but gonorrhea or chlamydia infections are the most common. These bacteria are usually acquired during unprotected sex.

Less commonly, bacteria can enter your reproductive tract anytime the normal barrier created by the cervix is disturbed. This can happen after childbirth, miscarriage or abortion.

Risk factors

A number of factors might increase your risk of pelvic inflammatory disease, including:

  • Being a sexually active woman younger than 25 years old
  • Having multiple sexual partners
  • Being in a sexual relationship with a person who has more than one sex partner
  • Having sex without a condom
  • Douching regularly, which upsets the balance of good versus harmful bacteria in the vagina and might mask symptoms
  • Having a history of pelvic inflammatory disease or a sexually transmitted infection

Most experts now agree that having an intrauterine device (IUD) inserted does not increase the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease. Any potential risk is generally within the first three weeks after insertion.

Complications

Untreated pelvic inflammatory disease might cause scar tissue. You might also develop collections of infected fluid (abscesses) in your fallopian tubes, which could damage your reproductive organs.

Other complications might include:

  • Ectopic pregnancy. PID is a major cause of tubal (ectopic) pregnancy. In an ectopic pregnancy, the scar tissue from PID prevents the fertilized egg from making its way through the fallopian tube to implant in the uterus. Ectopic pregnancies can cause massive, life-threatening bleeding and require emergency medical attention.
  • Infertility. PID might damage your reproductive organs and cause infertility — the inability to become pregnant. The more times you’ve had PID, the greater your risk of infertility. Delaying treatment for PID also dramatically increases your risk of infertility.
  • Chronic pelvic pain. Pelvic inflammatory disease can cause pelvic pain that might last for months or years. Scarring in your fallopian tubes and other pelvic organs can cause pain during intercourse and ovulation.
  • Tubo-ovarian abscess. PID might cause an abscess — a collection of pus — to form in your uterine tube and ovaries. If left untreated, you could develop a life-threatening infection.

Prevention

To reduce your risk of pelvic inflammatory disease:

  • Practice safe sex. Use condoms every time you have sex, limit your number of partners, and ask about a potential partner’s sexual history.
  • Talk to your doctor about contraception. Many forms of contraception do not protect against the development of PID. Using barrier methods, such as a condom, might help to reduce your risk. Even if you take birth control pills, it’s still important to use a condom every time you have sex to protect against STIs.
  • Get tested. If you’re at risk of an STI, such as chlamydia, make an appointment with your doctor for testing. Set up a regular screening schedule with your doctor if needed. Early treatment of an STI gives you the best chance of avoiding PID.
  • Request that your partner be tested. If you have pelvic inflammatory disease or an STI, advise your partner to be tested and, if necessary, treated. This can prevent the spread of STIs and possible recurrence of PID.
  • Don’t douche. Douching upsets the balance of bacteria in your vagina.

Woman alleged a bus conductor breaks into her home, defile her 10 year old daughter

The police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing from a woman and defiling her 10-year-old daughter in Alagbado area of Lagos State.

The police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing from a woman and defiling her 10-year-old daughter in Alagbado area of Lagos State.

Though the alleged culprit, one Afeez Saka, was not caught in the act, the police however arrested him after the victim and her mother, one Mrs. Omokhwa, fingered him as a suspect.

Reports gathered that the girl noticed someone was lying behind her on a mat around 1.30 am on October 1, 2019 in her parents’ apartment.

She was said to have screamed when the man reportedly tore her pants and hurriedly ejaculated on her body.

It was gathered that her grandmother, who lives with the family, was alerted and she switched on the light.

They reportedly saw the back of the suspect as he fled the room.

According to reports, A pair of slippers suspected to be owned by the intruder was found at the entrance.

The slippers were traced to Saka, who is a neighbour of the victims, and he was arrested.

Omokhwa told the police that her purse containing a sum of N26,600 and her mobile were stolen by the suspect.

She said,

At 1.35am of October 1, 2019, I was sleeping on the bed in my room when I heard my daughter’s voice. She asked if I was the one who slept behind her and I said no. She shouted and her grandma switched on the light. I came out from my room.

“My daughter told me that the man had run away. He cut off her pants and ejaculated on her body. I saw a pair of slippers by the entrance. I called my co-tenants and showed them. They said the slippers belonged to a man (Saka) living close to our house. I wanted to inform my landlord when I discovered that my phone and purse were missing. I have about N26,600 in the purse.

“I took the slippers to my landlord’s house and he followed me to the man’s house. He admitted that the slippers belong to him but denied having sex with my daughter. He lives in a room with five others.”

The girl stated that while she was asleep, she felt a sting in her back and her body suddenly became wet.

“I shouted and my grandma quickly switched on the light. I saw a man running away. The man did not penetrate into my private parts but he tore my pants and ‘poured’ (ejaculated) on my body,” she added.

Saka admitted that the slippers were his but denied committing any crime, adding that he didn’t go out at night.

He said,

“I am a bus conductor. A neighbour came to my room around 2am and woke me up. She alleged that a man entered her room and sexually harassed daughter. She stated further that her money and phone were stolen. I told her I didn’t know anything about it.

“She then brought out a pair of slippers and asked me if I was the owner. I confirmed they are mine. She concluded that I was the one who entered his room. An argument ensued because I didn’t understand what she was saying. Her landlord intervened. I didn’t know anything about ejaculation and I didn’t go out at night.”

Saka was consequently brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on two counts of stealing and defilement by a prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi.

The charge read,

That you, Afeez Saka, at Alagbado, Lagos, on October 1, 2019, at 1.35am, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did defile a 10-year-old girl by having sexual intercourse with her, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

“That you, Afeez Saka, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal a purse that contains N26,000 and itel phone, valued at N15,000, property of one Blessing Omohkwa, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

Saka, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Okada ban: Policemen disgraced after impounding power bike in Lagos.

Some operatives of the Lagos State Police Command were reportedly disgraced today after they seized a power bike belonging to a man who was on his way to work.

According to the man identified as Nmutaka Chikwendu, he was accosted by the officers while riding his bike to the office.

It was gathered that the policemen were trying to impound the bike over claims that the rider flouted the order of the state government proscribing the operation of Okada and Keke in 15 local council areas and major highways in Lagos.

Despite warning from the Lagos State government and the Police Command that power and dispatch riders are exempted from the ban placed on the operations of motorcycles and tricycles in the state, police officers have been seen in several viral photos and videos impounding power bikes and dispatch riders.

Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the officers on Wednesday, Chikwendu said despite intervention from passersby and other onlookers telling the policemen that power bike is not in the category of bikes banned by the government, they refused to release the bike until a passerby put a call through to the State Police Command and other top hierarchy in the police force.

Chikwendu wrote:

So…..I was heading to work this morning dodging massive potholes and meandering through heavy traffic. The Nigerian Police decided to arrest me because “bikes are banned”. The 2 things that stood out for me the most were:

“1. The speed with which a huge crowd built up. Within a short while people were yelling at the cops. “Is this one okada”? 2. How unintelligent our cops are. A team of four senior officers with guns could not say anything meaningful beyond “they sent us signal to arrest all bikes”

“A good Samaritan parked his car…showed them the broadcast sent by Lagos state police command. They refused to read it. He then called the numbers in the broadcast for all to hear, the police command asked if it was okada and the whole crowd roared “No!”

“Our street crew cops refused to budge. The Samaritan eventually called their DPO who asked them to release me….then they started looking for one Officer Ojo of Ifako police station who took my bike key and went away. Crowd kept building…..policemen became scared. Tried to disperse crowd. People refused to budge. I actually started getting worried and started asking people to leave. They said they wouldn’t move until I was released.

“Eventually the Ojo fellow sauntered out with my key and I started my bike….revved it a few times which drew cheers from the crowd…..and continued heading to work.

2020 UTME: JAMB candidates warned against unapproved institutions, courses

An educationist, Mr. Clement Adebayo, has advised candidates for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), to be wary of unapproved institutions and unaccredited courses.

Adebayo, a retired Principal and Proprietor, Success Academy, Omu-Aran in Kwara, gave the advice on Saturday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Omu-Aran, Irepodun LGA of Kwara.

Adebayo emphasised the need for the candidates to consult widely on the genuineness of available institutions and courses before finalising their choices.

According to him, experience has shown that embarking on such illegal academic venture would amount to a waste of energy and resources.

“Many stories abound about students who are being denied participation in the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) upon graduation due to their enrollment in such illegal institutions or unaccredited courses.

“Scores of victims of this dastardly act are also denied their certificates upon graduation or such certificates when even presented, are rendered useless,” he said.

Adebayo advised students to dedicate enough time toward studying the status of every institution and their courses, adding that they should not be carried away by the excitement of admission.

“It is better to do it right at the beginning than suffering and regretting at the end.

“The National Universities Commission (NUC) had, time without number, rolled out lists of unapproved institutions and unaccredited courses in institutions across the country.

“So, it is the duty of every student, either already in higher institutions or seeking for admission, to do a thorough investigation on schools and their courses.

“This is the only way they will not fall for the antics of these illegal school operators who are only bent on making illicit money at the expense of genuine academic standard.

“Some of them (schools) will only tell you that the approval or accreditation processes are already on, but in actual sense, nothing is on ground.

“So, the students need to be thorough in scrutinizing the institutions and their courses to know the truth before enrolling,” he said.

Adebayo urged NUC to evolve workable synergy and work closely with JAMB in enlightening students more on the important issue.

Recently, JAMB warned candidates, schools and parents against engaging in illegal transactions on the UTME.

The Board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday said that there was no need for the candidates to panic or consider going for another registration as this would automatically disqualify them from participating in the board’s forthcoming examination.

JAMB announced recently that it had blacklisted 41 centres out of 692 accredited so far for the exercise nationwide, over issues bordering on registration cyber fraud, extortion and technical deficiency.

We want to call on all candidates who registered in all of these affected centres not to panic or start considering going for another registration elsewhere.

“This will amount to double registration and with this, they stand automatically disqualified for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Their biometrics will indicate this on the day of the examination.

“We want to let them know that indeed, they have nothing to fear, as the security agents are already verifying the culpability of all those involved and at the appropriate time, we will do the needful,” Benjamin said.

Man returns her wife after he knew the vagina is as wide as the pit of hell

A newly wedded man has thrown residents of Ebelle community in Edo State into a state of wonderment after he reportedly returned his wife to her parents days after tying the knot.

His reasons? The woman’s vagina was too wide.

According to the reports, seen in various online blogs, the man, identified as Osamudiame Iyobosa, told his in-laws his wife’s vagina will swallow him up if nothing is done about it.

The man, who dropped his wife at her parents’ house in Ubiaja in a green coloured Golf 4, told his in-laws that many people must have slept with Edeki for her vagina to be that wide.

The couple before now were living at the upper mission road in Benin city.

It was said that Edeki was merely recommended to Iyobosa.

However, a man who sells palm wine near Ubiaja market, reportedly admitted that the man may be right.

According to him, Edeki was a well-known flirt in the neighbourhood and that no indigene would have married her.

He said they were all surprised when Iyobosa came from Benin to marry her.

Some young girls even started flirting saying that flirts are the most lucky ones using Edeki as an example of a lucky flirt.

Massive cyber fraud has landed 38 CBT centres operators in police net.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has uncovered massive cyber fraud and irregularities in the ongoing registration for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME), with the fate of hundreds of candidates who are victims hanging in the balance.

Advertisements

Operators of the 38 registration centres and their accomplices indicted by JAMB for various infractions were nabbed on Wednesday in Abuja and handed over to the police for prosecution.

The Board also retrieved about 48 laptops used by the suspects to commit cyber fraud as evidence against them. The laptops were confiscated when the crack teams from the Board were deployed to the registration centres across the country.

The suspects were lured to Abuja under the guise of a meeting with the management of JAMB at its headquarters, Bwari. Unknown to them that they were on their way to cool their feet in the police net, Oloyede handed them over to the waiting officers after long hours of interrogation.

The JAMB boss said prima facie case had been established against them and that the onus was on them to prove their innocence during prosecution in the court of law by the police.

Some of them were accused of extending the Virtual Private Network (VPN) of JAMB allocated to the accredited Computer Based Test (CBT) Centres to some cyber cafe operators for the purpose of illegal registration of candidates for the 2020 UTME.

JAMB also discovered that some of the suspects created fictitious user names and National Identity Number (NIN), which the Board set as a prerequisite for anyone that would participate in the registration exercise and conduct of the 2020 UTME.

Oloyede explained that the implication of the extension of VPN to remote areas was that the candidates who register in the illegal outlets would not be able to verify their biometric on the examination day, and as such would not be allowed to sit for the examination.

The JAMB Registrar had warned that candidates whose biometric could not be verified would not be allowed to sit for the examination.

He berated the University of Uyo, for engaging ad hoc staff for the purpose of UTME registration at its PTDF E-Resource Centre, saying it was wrong for a Federal University to be involved in irregularities.

During cross-examination, a staff of the University who was among those handed over to the police said ad hoc staff were engaged by the University who brought in their laptops from homes for the purpose registration of candidates, claiming that the University was not aware that the process was compromised.

Oloyede said: “It is important for us to educate the public; an average parent does not want the child to queue even for 10 minutes. They will prefer that they go and pay these people extra money and they will claim to have done it for them not knowing the incalculable damage they are doing to their own children.

“Even if we have destroyed our own generation, let the incoming generation have the opportunity of building a better tomorrow for us. That is our position,” he said.

Advertisements

He appealed to candidates and their parents to go through the normal process, stressing that all the candidates that have been defrauded knew that they were not registering at the right place.

He also urged other CBT centres to keep within the regulation, saying the Board would continue to sanction and blacklist centres found to have committed infractions.

Journalist disguise as drug addicts to uncover illicit act at Yaba left

Feyisayo Soyombo, the investigative journalist who went undercover to track corruption in Nigeria's justice system, by going to prison as a criminal, disguised himself as a drug addict and went to a psychiatric hospital in Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.

According to him, after receiving two unrelated complaints about Yaba mental health facility, he decided to alter his looks with the help of a doctor friend based abroad.

To help devise a medically impregnable entry strategy, I enlisted the services of a US-based mental health expert. When we communicated for the first time in the first week of October, he explained I could only enter as a drug addict requiring rehabilitation after abusing marijuana and cocaine. If I faked the regular, mentally-ill patient, I would definitely be found out, he explained.

“That means I have to ingest cocaine just before I go in?” I asked. With the benefit of hindsight, I was only displaying the naivety that made me know I had to contact him in the first place”, he wrote.

In two-part series, Soyombo detailed how officials at the Yaba facility are fleecing patients by taking bribes before providing essential services such as bed spaces for patients.

He said that on his first day of arrival at the facility was turned back because of lack of bed space but he kept coming until he struck a deal with one of the orderlies who promised to give him a bed for a fee.

He said not only are the officials corrupt, but they also do so brazenly without a care in the world.

He said the food served at the facility is not fit for human consumption despite repeated complaints from inmates.

“Dinner, served every 6 pm, was eba and egusi, but I waited until a little after 8 pm before eating. It was the first time in decades I was seeing eba so full of lumps, and egusi so bland and watery. Even though I had not eaten all day, I lost my appetite instantly. I had ingested no more than three morsels when I spotted a strand of local sponge in the egusi. I showed my ‘neighbour’, he said.

He said anytime an inmate complained of poor services, they would change their medications by slipping in sleeping pills in the patient's treatment. This makes sure that they don't become unruly and disrupt the peace of the place.

The Lagos State Government has banned the activities of commercial motorcycles, popularly called Okada, and tricycles, known as Keke Napep, in some Local Government Areas, bridges, and highways in the state.

State Government directed security operatives to embark on total enforcement of the State’s Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018 on the affected six Local Government Areas, nine Local Council Development Areas and 10 major highways across the State with effect from February 1.

The ban also affects Opay and Gokada operators.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, who made the announcement at the State House in Alausa on Monday, said the measures were taken by the Government in response to “scary figures” of fatal accidents recorded from operations of Okada and tricycles in the State between 2016 and 2019.

According to the Commissioner, operations of Okada and Keke NAPEP have been banned in the following LGAs and LCDAs: Apapa LGA, Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Lagos Mainland LGA, Yaba LCDA, Surulere LGA, Itire-Ikate LCDA, and Coker-Aguda LCDA.

Others are Ikeja LGA, Onigbongbo, LCDA, Ojodu LCDA, Eti-Osa LGA, Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, and Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Lagos Island LGA and Lagos Island East LCDA.

He said, “After a robust assessment of the debate on what has been widely referred to as the motorcycle (Okada) and tricycle (Keke) menace, the Lagos State Government and the State Security Council have decided that the security and safety of lives of Lagosians are paramount.

The figures are scary. From 2016 to 2019, there were over 10,000 accidents recorded at the General Hospitals alone. This number excludes unreported cases and those recorded by other hospitals. The total number of deaths from reported cases is over 600 as of date.

“Also, the rate of crimes aided by Okada and Keke keeps rising. They are also used as getaway means by criminals. Therefore, after consultations with stakeholders, the State Security Council, in compliance with the extant Transport Sector Reform Law 2018, has decided to commence enforcement of the law which bans the operation of Okada and Keke in six Local Government Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas.”

Man impregnates mother in law, when she came to take care of the new born baby

An ex-military officer, Silvanus Kwange has been left in shock after finding out that his son-in-law Christopher Chori. impregnated his second wife, Priscilla Kwange.

Mr Kwange speaking on this said;” I know the importance of her coming to stay in Lafia for some period of time, to take care of the new born baby whose mother is late. I thought it was my own responsibility to help my son-in-law and the new baby of my late daughter. So, I allowed my own wife to come and help. Is that an offence?”

Two weeks ago, a friend ran into my wife in Lafia and called to tell me that he saw her with bulging stomach. I was speechless with shock and asked, how come? I didn’t want to believe it or confront her on the phone. She has been here since June last year. I decided to visit them to also see how the little boy is doing. I was coming with so much joy, not knowing that I was coming to meet disaster waiting for me. When I got to the house of my son-in-law, I met the shock of my life as I saw my own wife with a protruding stomach. I stood transfixed to the spot as I looked at her, trying to recall if there was any time she told me she was pregnant but I could not remember.

I quickly asked my wife what happened and she broke down and claimed that Mr. Chori seduced her and they had sex and it became frequent and the result was the pregnancy. She started begging me for forgiveness. She said that she actually allowed him to have his way as a way of checking her fertility status and it turned out to be this way and that she refused to abort it because she has spent 10 solid years with me without a child. She said it is almost getting late as she is no longer getting younger.

She pleaded with me not to cause her any embarrassment or disgrace by exposing her to ridicule and shame. She actually begged me to handle the matter in a mature way, but I’m yet to get out of the shock seeing my own wife impregnated by my own son -in- law. My anger knows no bounds. If it were during my days as a military man, I would have used my gun to kill the two of them. But if I do that now, I will be taking the law into my hands. What I will do now is to go back to Taraba. I have asked my wife not to come back to my house. As for Christopher Chori, I leave him to his conscience he said

He said; ”After the death and burial of my wife, my mother-in-law came to stay with me here in Lafia, to help look after the baby because my mother is no longer alive; she died many years ago. I work with one of the federal government agencies in Lafia. My younger sister who is equally staying with me is in SS2 and could not combine her studies with taking care of the baby. So my father-in-law asked his wife to come because his first wife who happens to be my real mother-in-law is late.

I live in a two-bedroom apartment. So when she came to take care of the baby with the assistance of my younger sister, I left one of the rooms for them to use while I stay in the other room but I come home regularly to check on them and to ensure that she does not lack anything especially when my younger sister is out in school.

In the first one month of her stay with me, nothing happened but during the second month, which was July 2019, something happened that left me with so much guilty feelings. My sister went to school. I did not go to work that day, leaving me and my mother-in-law alone in the house. It rained the previous night all through and the weather was very cold. I was checking on them in their room to see how my newborn baby was doing. But when I opened the door, I was shocked to see my mother-in-law almost naked as she wore only lingerie with no underwear. I could clearly see the outline of her firm breasts and her private part. I tried to turn back but she said I should come in. When I hesitated, she walked up to me and grabbed me, asking me why I was behaving like a small boy. She asked whether she was not looking attractive to me. I told her I could not do what she had in mind with her as I saw her as my own mother as well as mother-in-law.

But she disabused my mind and insisted that I must sleep with her. As a human being, I fell for the temptation and slept with her that day, and somehow it continued at any given opportunity. It became a daily routine as I was not going to work regularly. As soon as my sister leaves for school and the boy is able to sleep, we would stay indoors and have sex all day and it later resulted in pregnancy but she refused to abort it. She said she has been longing for a child of her own. I cannot but blame myself for falling into such a temptation but then the deed has been done. I feel very bad because there is no way my father-in-law would thump his chest and claim to be the owner of the pregnancy because she has spent some months in my house and she missed her period while staying here, not in her husband’s house.” he said

Priscilla on her part says: ”I’m not proud of myself because apart from being a housewife, the victim is my son-in-law. My reason for teasing him was to test my fertility status since there was a golden opportunity and sticking to my husband in the past ten years has not yielded any result. I wanted to be sure of where the problem lies. Unfortunately, I took in. It was a wrong decision but I didn’t want to take the risk of aborting the baby as it may not come my way again. Although, I didn’t want it made public, my husband has succeeded in exposing it. I admit I am guilty of allowing my son-in-law to impregnate me but I was also considering my condition, even though I never expected pregnancy to come. But since it has come, I will want to keep it even if he decides to push me out of his house, I can’t afford to die childless.” Priscilla said.

Billionaire's body found in Lagos bush dismembered where the devilish act was perpetrated.

The dismembered body of a business mogul, Ignatius Odunukwe , has been recovered from a bush in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that Odunukwe was about to sell a landed property to some supposed buyers when he was allegedly kidnapped by the potential buyers.

It was learnt that the supposed buyers and Odunukwe had agreed on a date and location to meet to perfect the transaction, but the suspects took advantage of the situation to whisk the Enugu State indigene away.

The suspects were said to have coerced the billionaire into signing the agreement for the transaction, after which he was reportedly strangled and injected with a lethal substance in a hotel room in Ajah.

Odunukwe’s corpse was dismembered and the parts were reportedly packed into a bag and dumped in a bush in a bid to conceal the crime.

Chronicling the circumstances surrounding the death of the billionaire on Instagram, a lawyer, identified simply as Smart Law, stated that efforts by Odunukwe’s personal lawyer to accompany him to the meeting point proved abortive.

He said when Adunukwe was nowhere to be found, a case of a missing person was reported to the police and personnel were detailed to commence investigation into the incident.

Smart Law’s post on Instablog9ja read in part, “How the billionaire owner of Fireman Generator was murdered and his body stacked inside a bag.

“Chief Ignatius Odunukwe, who went missing since the first week of December 2019, has been found dead.

“The story had it that the billionaire was killed by his assailants, cut into pieces and his body packed into a bag, took to the expressway and dumped inside a forest. The sum of N900m and original documents collected from him.

“Some criminals, who pretended to be land buyers, drew his attention requesting to purchase property since he had one for sale. The deal was concluded and having agreed on the purchase price, the agreement was drafted by his lawyer.

“Both parties agreed to meet on an agreed date and place for the exchange of money and signing of documents, that’s when the whole drama unfolded. Chief Odunukwe’s lawyers suggested going with him for the perfection of the deal, but he declined on the ground that he needed to see someone at Ikoyi Club and that was the last time he was seen alive.

“When the billionaire could not return home, his family reported the incident to the police and investigation commenced. It is always good to disclose your movements to your family. It was his lawyer who unveiled the whole deal to the police.”

However, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Ahmed Iliyasu, said at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday that Adunukwe’s family petitioned the command and narrated their trauma regarding his sudden disappearance, adding that he detailed personnel to go after the abductors.

SUG president of federal polytechnic Ilaro found in AYE confraternity full regalia

He stated that four suspects, Daniel Ibeaji, 42; Arinze Igwe, 26; Solomon Cletus, 30; and Israel Obigaremu, 35, were arrested in connection with the crime.

He added that one medical identification card, an axe, remains of the victim in a bag, three AK-47 rifles, one pump action gun, one Ford SUV and property documents belonging to the victim, one Toyota Corolla car, a Nissan salon car, three Tecno phones, four Nokia phones, two Samsung phones and one Bontel phone were recovered from the suspects.

According to him, Adunukwe left his residence at No. 14 Maduke Street, off Raymond Njoku Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, on December 1, 2019, and never returned home.

Iliyasu said the victim was declared missing, noting that he was strangled and injected with a lethal substance in a hotel room in Ajah.

Iliyasu stated, “The suspects specialise in hacking into unsuspecting members of the public’s Facebook accounts and the moment a person responds to a friendship request, the person is a ready-made target. Daniel Ibeaji, who claimed to be a medical doctor, is the kingpin of the syndicate.

“It was Ibeaji, who approached the late Adunukwe with a business proposal to the tune of N900m, following which they fixed an appointment for the Artican Beach Resort, Ajah, Lagos, having asked the three other suspects to be on red alert for that operation.

“After cajoling Adunukwe into signing the agreed documents, he lured him to his hotel room. In the hotel room, Ibeaji instructed one of his boys to fetch him a bag and pretended as if he wanted to hand over the money to the victim.

“As the victim was about to open the bag, Ibeaji grabbed him from behind, while one of the boys hit the victim with an axe in the back of his head. Ibeaji then dragged Adunukwe into the toilet, strangled him and with the assistance of his boys, who held the victim down, injected him twice with a lethal substance. Convinced that the deed had been done, Ibeaji gave directives to the boys to evacuate the corpse and throw it away.”

One of the suspects, Cletus, said Igwe, who was a former worker in the hotel where the crime was perpetrated, directed them to take the corpse through the back door.

He said, “It was Igwe, who directed us, and we moved the body through the back door of the hotel and through the laundry area. We chopped the body between 7pm and 8pm and it was within that same hour that we dumped him in the bush as the hotel is not far away from where the corpse was dumped.

Iliyasu said Ibeaji was also involved in the murder of a commissioner in Bayelsa State, one Depologa, whose remains were found on the Abuja Expressway.

He said Ibeaji’s second victim was one Jude Efulue, a property developer in Abuja, who swam into Ibeaji’s net and was held captive in an apartment and forced to sign a prepared document transferring the ownership of the victim’s property to him.

“His plan was to kill Efulue after sweeping his account clean. But with the help of neighbours, who called the police, Bob and his boys were apprehended and charged accordingly. It was at the Kuje Prison, where Cletus was also serving a jail term, that he and Ibeaji met and they reunited after leaving the prison to execute this dastardly act,” Iliyasu added.

The AIG said Ibeaji was currently undergoing trial at the Apo High Court in Abuja for two similar cases.

How to choose the right O'level/UTME subject combination

One of the common mistakes candidates make when choosing course of study during UTME registration is picking a course they do not have the O-level/ UTME  subject combination or requirement for. This mistake is one of the major reasons candidates fail to gain admission into higher institutions every year.

Advertisements

The reason many candidates make this mistake is because they are not informed. Some of them believe that once you have 5 credit pass in your O’level including English and Mathematics, you can apply for any course. Others believe that the subjects you sit for during UTME do not matter.

The truth is any course of study you want to apply for in any university, Polytechnic etc. has specified O’level/UTME subject combination/requirement. Before applying for any course in any institution, it is advisable you know the acceptable O’level/UTME subject combination for that particular course in that institution.

For instance, if you are applying for an engineering course, you will have to sit for mathematics in UTME. Similarly, if you are going for any medical related course, you will have to sit for Biology in UTME.

Many have been disqualified from gaining admission for the simple reason that they did not meet the O’level/UTME subject requirement for the particular course they applied for.

One can easily confirm what the acceptable O’level/ UTME requirement is for one’s choice course in any institution directly from the
